What HPLC Verifies in a Research Peptide

HPLC is the gold-standard analytical technique for peptide purity verification. It works by passing the research peptide sample through a chromatographic column, separating components based on their interactions with the stationary phase, and measuring the resulting peaks with a detector. The relative area of each peak tells us how much of the sample is the target peptide – and how much is something else.

For Genryse research peptides, HPLC results are reported as percentage purity. A 99%+ result means at least 99% of the sample is verified to be the target research peptide, with less than 1% impurities. This threshold is documented on every COA we issue.

What Mass Spectrometry Verifies in a Research Peptide

Mass spectrometry verifies the identity of the research peptide. While HPLC tells us how pure the sample is, mass spectrometry tells us what the sample actually is. By ionizing the molecule and measuring its mass-to-charge ratio, mass spectrometry confirms the molecular weight matches the expected value for the target peptide sequence.
For example, BPC-157 has a molecular weight of 1419.55 g/mol. A mass spectrometry result that confirms a peak at this mass – within standard analytical tolerances – verifies the molecular identity of the BPC-157 research peptide. Genryse does not ship a research peptide without this identity confirmation.
